We finished our last (24th) week of CC back in April! It's a wrap until August, when we'll start Cycle 2.
Week after week I've watched the girls' enthusiasm for learning grow. This is such a new way of learning for them. I only wish we had started sooner!
Things we loved:
-Our community days were on Mondays. This was a great way to start our week- with friends and fresh material.
-The memory work. Our tutors are soooo good with the kids! They keep them engaged and excited. And they really get those songs stuck in your head ;) I sit in with Annie, and after the winter break we started combining our class with the 6 year-olds. She constantly volunteered to sing the songs in front of everyone. So brave!
-Presentations. Each week the kids get the chance to stand up in front of their class and do a presentation on anything they wish. They can talk about a toy, an experience, a new skill...the possibilities are endless! This of course prepares them for public speaking, which we all know is very important as they get older.
-Science. Every week we did an experiment. We always start by reviewing the scientific method...it's so cute to hear little kids yell out,"hypothesis!"
-Art. This program is rich in fine arts! It includes drawing, learning the tin whistle, and studying famous artists & composers.
-Friends. The girls really bonded with the other kiddos, and not just the ones in their class. We do opening, lunch, and afternoon all together, so they got to play with kids of different ages. THAT is socialization, my friends.
The list of things we didn't love is pretty short. Essentials, a very valuable program for sure, was a struggle for us. I think mostly because we were sitting for 2 solid hours after lunch. And we didn't do anything with it throughout the rest of the week.
Next year I want to make memory work a priority, and more central to our curriculum.

I'm so glad you all love CC! I love knowing you're a part of it with us! :)
