Back to it!

We had a wonderful break, and this was our first full week back in our routine!

Annie went back to school last Thursday, so I took advantage and had the girls work on Time 4 Learning activities. I had them do math on Thursday and Friday since there were just a few lessons left before they both started a new unit.
On Monday we went back to CC! The girls were beyond excited! It was so nice to see everyone. I didn't get a chance to take pictures, but we did some cool stuff! For Art the kids made paint with egg yolk and colored powder (we are DEFINITELY doing this at home!) Our 2 Science experiments were awesome! We did a sink/float activity with soil and paper clips; then we observed the tilt of the Earth using clay and a flashlight.
Abby started to feel drained at lunch. Annie was clingy and didn't want me to leave for Essentials. Audrey started feeling bad halfway through Essentials. It was definitely an adjustment to be back, LOL! I had every intention of going to dance, but on the way home they were falling asleep and complaining and just generally miserable. When we got home I sent them to their rooms to chill and it was nice & quiet for almost 2 hours! #heaven

On Tuesday we were all up early and ready for the day. Anne went to school (and it was a beautiful day so we stayed after to play outside with friends!) At home Audrey & Abby worked on Language Arts, spelling, and writing. Then we reviewed CC math (liquid measurements.) They loved searching the fridge and freezer for cups, pints, & gallons.
She reads while Audrey finishes up- then we do CC memory work together :)
Plenty of time for painting when we're done!

Current project! She's waiting on blank canvases to arrive.

I love Wednesdays! Annie doesn't have school, so we literally don't have to go anywhere until later in the afternoon. And we can start school earlier, which means we can fit more in.

Last week Audrey finished her math unit on fractions and Abigail finished operations. The next unit for both of them is money, super convenient! Abby reviewed coin id & value. Audrey is working on making change from up to $100.

She requested real coins for practice :)
Annie is starting to join us for parts of our home school morning. I'm starting her with BOB books and the workbook that goes with them.

In spelling the girls are working on consonant vowel chunks. Audrey's history passage is about Ben Franklin. I want to be better about looking ahead at her lessons so I can grab resources for her; a book or video for a little enrichment. Same with Abby- right now her first few lessons are nursery rhymes, but eventually they'll be nonfiction passages about animals.

Science was the highlight of our morning! This week in CC we learned about parts of the geosphere. A quick search on Pinterest and we were building models of the earth with all the Play Doh Grandma got us for Christmas :) We had a great illustration in one of our science books, so we read that as well.

Afterwards, they went outside to play. Then they came in and created cakes out of Play Doh. This is what happens when the screens go away, and I LOVE it...even when they argue (which they do- a lot.) Originally I wanted to ban electronics M-F; that worked really well for us last year. But now we have so much time in our day. I set up the girl's Kindles with Learning Goals- they have to read 30 minutes before having free time. I'm trying hard to find a good balance!

We went to Mathnasium, then dropped Audrey at dance. It was an awesome day (I even made an Italian Roast! #whaaaat?! #crockpotFTW)

Thursday is pretty much a carbon copy of Tuesday-Annie went to school. We worked on language arts and spelling. We reviewed geography for CC.
When I pick her up she yells, "MOMMY!!!" It's my favorite!!

On Friday I decided to take the day off. I took Annie to school and picked up some groceries, cleaned, and worked out. The girls were busy with their own art projects. We're looking forward to lots of snow this weekend!!
